Aberchirder Bowling Club

HISTORY

On the 27th June 1906, Aberchirder & District Bowling and Tennis Club was formally declared open.  The then clubhouse was a simple wooden structure and it remained largely unaltered until 1960 when it was widened.

Bowling Green with Tennis Courts Beyond - Late 1920's

In 1979, the club amalgamated with Marnoch Church Indoor Bowling Club and investigations into ways to improve facilities for all members quickly followed.  A temporary portable unit was added to the original clubhouse to form a lounge and bar which opened in April 1981.  Car parking was provided in the area of the by then disused tennis courts and later that same year, an additional unit was added to provide indoor bowling and function facilities.

The club went from strength to strength and on 30th April 1988, the entirely new clubhouse was opened.  It was constructed on the area of the former car park and earlier tennis courts.  The original clubhouse and temporary buildings were then demolished and the area they had occupied was formed into a new car park.
