THE FOYER
Welcome to Aberchirder's Virtual Museum. As you will have seen from the main museum page, there are various rooms, each containing information and pictures relating to the history of Foggie and the surrounding area. The museum will be ever expanding and we hope local people and others will continue to provide information and photographs to add to the museum's collection.
(From a postcard contributed by Evelyn Chalmers)
Enjoy your visit to our virtual museum and if you have any comments to offer, please contact us or place a message in our guest book. If you have no particular connections with Aberchirder, we suggest you return to the main museum page from here.
If however you do have links with Aberchirder, we would ask you to read on and hopefully you can contribute to our museum's collection.

History is important for people because it helps them to work out their identities – “Who am I? What am I? Where do I come from?” People also share a common history with other people in the communities where they live (or once lived). Their lives have also been shaped by changes in how people worked and lived in the past.
We are all hoarders. Lots of people will have memorabilia and old photographs of buildings, people or events, tucked away in a drawer or album. In most cases these have little or no monetary value but rather some sentimental worth.

So, we need people – wherever they live – to contribute as much as possible, in the way of photographs, postcards or artefacts which will tell us anything about Aberchirder and district in the past. If you have any interesting objects, we can photograph them. We also need peoples' knowledge of the community’s past. |

Many of you will have photographs like this one that shows typical dress of its time. If you can supply names and the year to accompany your images, all the better. You may have pictures from school days, local dances or special events. These mementoes of days gone by are of interest to many people and we would simply take a photograph of an item or merely scan your picture so you can retain the original. We will acknowledge, on the web site, the fact that you contributed the image |

In the future, we hope to open the museum shop where copies of some photographs displayed in our galleries will be obtainable.
