The following audio was narrated by George Copeland who recalls his time in Aberchirder about the year 1910. George was brought up at Myreside, a few miles from Foggie and later moved to Hamilton where he ran a greengrocer's business before retiring. He died on 27th November 2002 aged 97 years and was buried in Marnoch Church Yard. He had two sons George and James. |
| His story
is in the form of a tour, beginning at Bridge of Marnoch where he
recounts a number of farms and residents, then continues to the
village of Aberchirder where he takes us along the main streets,
pointing out business and commercial properties existing at the
time. He remembers a few amusing stories and incidences on the way. |
Our thanks go to Robert Copeland, Ontario, Canada, nephew of the narrator, who kindly sent us the recording.
