Foggie Moves Towards

Broadband Target Reached

Two Foggie community organisations which joined forces in a campaign to bring broadband to the area, have taken only a fortnight to reach the trigger level of 200 needed for BT to upgrade the Aberchirder exchange.

The push was made by volunteers from the Community Association and Community Council, helped by John Duncan of Huntly Computer Services and Mike Stout, who launched the Broadband for Foggie campaign.  They contacted local people, by phone or in person, to ask them for permission to register them as having an interest in Broadband, making it clear that there is no financial commitment involved.

Community Association Secretary Bob Peden said:  “This shows what communities can achieve when a few volunteers take on responsibility to get things done.  We just hope it won’t take too long now for BT to enable our exchange so that local people and businesses can benefit.”
