Aberchirder Bowling Club held their annual floodlight bowling tournament on 25th September.  36 teams of triples took part and bowling went on from 7pm until after midnight.

Winners Kevin Beaton, Davie Anderson and Mike Stephen were presented with the Malcolm Polonis Sheild and each received a quaich and a bottle of whisky.

The event marked the closing of the green for another season. Bowling will continue indoors during the winter months.

New Zealanders With Foggie Connections

Association Secretary Bob Peden had a visit from Jill and Bill Williams of Auckland, New Zealand, on 30 September.  While on a trip to Britain to see family, Jill took the opportunity to look round Foggie and picked up some local history souvenirs.  Her interest arises from being a descendant of William Aitken, the wealthy Aberdeen businessman who bought Auchintoul House from the Gordons in 1832 and whose family emigrated to New Zealand in 1848 in search of a healthier climate.  Jill promises to send photos and further details of her family history for the Virtual Museum.
