Aberdeenshire Council

The success or otherwise of the 1975 reorganisation may be reflected in the fact that within twenty-one years yet another change was implemented. This created subdivided single-tier authorities and Aberchirder found itself in the North Area of Aberdeenshire (the name given to what was roughly the previous Grampian Region). The ancient county of Banffshire, where Foggieloan had been founded over two centuries before, thus disappeared from the political map if not the hearts of its inhabitants.

Councillors
Single-member wards
1995-2007 Kenny Benzie
In yet another modification in 2007 Aberchirder ward was amalgamated with two coastal ones into a new ward [Banff & District] represented by three councillors elected by STV system:
2007-2012 John Cox, Ian Gray, Jack Mair
2012-2017 John Cox, Ian Gray (to November 2016, then Iain Taylor), Mike Roy
2017- John Cox, Glen Reynolds, Mike Roy

Throughout all the changes in local government organization the percentage turnout at elections ranged from 40 – 50%.
